Overnight road closures – M3 J9 Improvements project
Overnight road closures planned for the A34, A272, and M3 during April and May 2026.

- Overnight on Saturday 18 April we are closing the A34 at Three Maids Hill and A33 the Cart and Horse junction southbound – Surfacing works
- Switch off satnav and follow signed diversion: A34/A33 southbound diversions
- Overnight on Thursday 23, Friday 24, Saturday 25, and Sunday 26 April we are closing the eastern side of the gyratory and the A272 northbound (8pm to 6am) – A272 gyratory island build
- Switch off satnav and follow signed diversion: Gyratory and A272 northbound diversions
- Overnight on Tuesday 5, Wednesday 6, Thursday 7, Friday 8, Saturday 9, and Sunday 10 May we are closing the M3 both northbound and southbound between junctions 8 and 9 (8pm to 6am) – New bridge works and vegetation removal
- Switch off satnav and follow signed diversion: M3 junction 9 to 8 northbound and southbound diversion
The diversion routes are designed to suit all vehicle types.
You are advised NOT to use a Satnav when following any of the diversions because there is a risk it could direct you down an unsuitable road or back onto our network when it is closed.

Updates are also posted on the Highways south east X and Facebook social media accounts which you can share.
Please note lane closure information is not usually provided on the project website or closure bulletins.
In the event of poor weather conditions or other issues out of the contractors’ control, planned work may be postponed at short notice.
