Emergency Overnight Closure M3 J8-J9 17 July 2026
Please be advised of an urgent safety critical closure tomorrow night between junction 8 and 9.

Please be advised of an urgent safety critical closure tonight between junction 8 and 9. Some of you may be aware a vehicle struck the safety barrier at junction 9 this morning closing a lane, we need to complete urgent replacement of this barrier. We expect the closure tonight to take a few hours, but please be mindful it may be longer.
Below sets out the planned overnight closures for our works:
- **Emergency Closure*** Overnight on Friday 17 July we are closing the M3 southbound between junctions 8 and 9 – Crash Barrier replacement
- Switch off satnav and follow signed diversion: M3 junction 8 to 9 southbound diversion
- Overnight only from Thursday 16 July until 30 July (excluding weekends) we are closing the M3 northbound between junctions 10 and 9 (8pm to 6am) – Carriageway management
- Diversion: M3 junction 10 to 9 northbound diversion
- Overnight only from Monday 20 until 25 July and from Tuesday 4 until 8 August we are closing sections of the M3 junction 9 roundabout, between A34 northbound and southbound (8pm to 6am) – Traffic Management layout changes
- Overnight on Thursday 30 July we are closing the M3 southbound between junctions 8 and 9 (8pm to 6am) – For Temporary Vehicle Restraint removal
- Switch off satnav and follow signed diversion: M3 junction 8 to 9 southbound diversion
