Dear colleagues,
I am delighted to invite you to help shape our Trust strategy for 2025-30 by sharing your ideas, experiences and feedback.
In recent months, you will have seen the changes and challenges facing our NHS, both nationally and here at Hampshire Hospitals.
This includes the recently published Government 10-Year Health Plan, local pressures on our services, our aging population and buildings as well as workforce and financial challenges. The 10 Year Health Plan sets a bold direction: delivering care closer to home, embracing digital-first services, and prioritising prevention of health issues. We now need to think carefully about how we respond to this to best meet the needs, and deliver value, for our patients, our colleagues, and our communities whilst making the most of new opportunities this brings.
We are therefore refreshing our Trust strategy, which is our shared plan for the next five years. Our Trust strategy will set out our priorities, guide the decisions we make, and help us plan how we will care for the patients who will need us tomorrow, next month and in the years to come.
As part of this piece of work we have taken another look at our vision for the Trust. To be truly aspirational, we have taken our existing vision one step further: ‘to be an outstanding provider of acute hospital services in North and Mid Hampshire, delivering exceptional care; and at the same time, playing a leading role in bringing together health and care providers for the benefit of local people.’
Whether you’re a patient, partner, or member of our wider population, you have valuable insights that can help us get our strategy right. By sharing your ideas, experiences, and feedback, you’ll help shape a strategy that reflects real needs, builds on what matters most to the people we serve, and ensures we are an organisation that is fit for the future.
To have your say:
- Respond to our questionnaire here before midday on Saturday 15 November
- Take part in one of our upcoming workshops, details for which will be sent through in the coming weeks
- Request a 1-2-1 conversation with one of our executive team to share your views by emailing communications@hhft.nhs.uk

When all feedback has been gathered, it will then be considered, themed and analysed to inform decision-making and priority setting, with the final strategy due to be published in the winter. As part of its publication, you will be able to read how your feedback and input has directly shaped the strategy.
I handover the responsibility for Hampshire Hospitals, to Sue Harriman, in October. I know she will value the insight you provide as she works with partners, colleagues, patients and the Hampshire Hospitals Board and Council of Governors to shape the strategy for the years to come.
Thank you for your continued support.
Best wishes,
Alex Whitfield, Chief Executive
Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
