Latest M3 overnight closures July & August
Overnight (8pm to 6am) closures to the M3 northbound/southbound on various dates in July & August.

- Overnight only from Thursday 23 July until 30 July and between 4 August until 11 August (excluding weekends) the M3 northbound closed between junctions 10 and 9 (8pm to 6am) – Carriageway management
- Diversion: M3 junction 10 to 9 northbound diversion
- Overnight only from Monday 20 until 25 July and from Tuesday 4 until 8 August the M3 junction 9 roundabout closed between A34 northbound and southbound (8pm to 6am) – Traffic Management layout changes
- Overnight on Thursday 30 July the M3 southbound closed between junctions 8 and 9 (8pm to 6am) – For Temporary Vehicle Restraint removal
- Switch off satnav and follow signed diversion: M3 junction 8 to 9 southbound diversion
- Overnight on Monday 3 August the M3 southbound closed between junctions 8 and 9 (8pm to 6am) – For Vehicle Restraint installation
- Switch off satnav and follow signed diversion: M3 junction 8 to 9 southbound diversion
- Overnight on Monday 3 August the M3 northbound closed between junctions 10 and 8 (8pm to 6am) – For Vehicle Restraint and earthworks
- Diversion: M3 junction 10 to 8 northbound diversion
REMINDER
***Long-term closure – M3 junction 9 northbound entry slip road***
The M3 junction 9 northbound entry slip road will be closed from 9pm Friday 31 July 2026 until winter 2027.
This means there will be no access to the M3 northbound from the Winnall roundabout.
The diversion routes are designed to suit all vehicle types.
You are advised NOT to use a Satnav when following any of the diversions because there is a risk it could direct you down an unsuitable road or back onto the network when it is closed.
Please remember that closures can change at short notice. You can check the latest information on the daily closures page or find live travel information on the Traffic England. The travel alerts give details of live incidents on the network.
Updates are also posted on the Highways south east X and Facebook social media accounts which you can share.
Please note lane closure information is not usually provided on the project website or closure bulletins.
In the event of poor weather conditions or other issues out of the contractors’ control, planned work may be postponed at short notice.
